Child Advocacy

Research indicates that about one in ten children in California will experience some type of learning disability at a level that warrants educationally supportive accommodations in the classroom. Yet, according to a recent report by the Surgeon General, many of these children are “falling through the cracks”; as a society, we are failing to address the specific needs of these children with the resources and ingenuity necessary to prevent their functional impairment into adulthood.

As an advocate committed to advancing the human and legal rights of children with special learning needs, I have developed the skills and knowledge necessary to help your child overcome personal and environmental obstacles related to learning. My advocacy services are strategic and may include a number of corrective interventions such as: parent consultation, legal research, letter writing, phone calling, representation at school meetings, mental health consultation for school staff, complaints filing, psychotherapy, and identification and coordination of specialized child-supportive resources. Please note that I also work within a large network of professionals which includes Special Education attorneys.
