SPECIALIZED PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES
Treatment for Children & Adolescents
Like the effects of throwing a stone into still water, I begin to resolve your child’s problems by working from the center out; that is, by working individually with your child and, then, gradually outward by making adjustments to the way that relationship-based transactions happen between you and your child, and your child and his or her community, outside of the family.
Nevertheless, I don’t do therapy alone. After years of treating some of the most difficult cases around, I’ve quickly learned that making lasting changes within a child’s life requires the active participation of many of the individuals and social institutions that interact with him or her on a day-to-day basis, such as family, school, peer group and community. My job is to act as the catalyst for positive and lasting change within this intricate network of people and places.
In addition to conducting individual and family therapy, I may apply various community interventions, such as arranging and attending special school meetings designed to resolve behavioral problems and enhance academic performance.
Please also note that I work within a large network of professionals who can can provide adjunctive types of care, such as medication management, inpatient care, psychological testing and educational therapy.
Specific psychotherapy treatments may include any combination of the following treatment modalities, many of which are evidence-based practices:
Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Structural Family Therapy,
Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy,
Multisystemic Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
